Department of Spinal Injury Centre

Introduction

Our Spinal Services is a one-stop facility that provides comprehensive management of spinal injuries, back pain, spinal deformities, tumors, and osteoporosis. We have highly qualified and well-trained consultant spinal surgeons, spinal anesthetists, intensivists, specialized physiotherapists, occupational therapists, assistive technologists, orthotists, social workers, and peer counselors. A well-developed rehabilitation service adds great value and helps improve the outcome for all spinal ailments. The specialist nurses, trained specifically in spinal diseases, along with physical and occupational therapists, provide robust support to the patients and the service. We also have in-house multispecialty support, including operative, postoperative, and ICU care.

Keeping patient safety as a top priority, we routinely use intraoperative real-time neural monitoring, a cutting-edge technology that helps prevent paralysis and nerve damage during complex spinal surgeries such as deformity correction, tumor excision, and reconstruction. Minimal reconstructive techniques are used for prolapsed disc excision/decompression, cementing (kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty), and fixation of vertebral bodies. Moreover, the service places a strong emphasis on continuous technological and medical education. All the latest evidence-based care options are available, including minimally invasive surgery.
