Department of General Medicine

Introduction

The Department of General Medicine is complementary to all specialties in providing medical care to trauma and other patients. Medical conditions such as diabetes and other endocrine disorders, hypertension, asthma, epilepsy, infectious diseases, and monitoring of patients in the ICU are managed by the department. A physician is available on call for all emergencies requiring medical attention. Pre-operative evaluation and surgical fitness assessments are also provided by the department.

OPD: Monday – Saturday

Dr. Asha R

Professor and HOD, Internal Medicine

She has 18 years of experience practicing medicine. She completed her MBBS from BMCRI, Bangalore, and her post-graduation from KIMS, Bangalore. Additionally, she has 2 years of work experience in a tertiary cardiac center (SJIC). She holds a fellowship in Diabetes from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University, USA, with a special interest in managing diabetes and its complications. She has two publications in indexed national journals and two in international indexed journals. She is also a state-level swimmer and Bharatanatyam dancer, having performed in India and abroad.

Dr. D.G. Varun M.B.B.S, M.D (Internal Medicine)

Associate Professor, Department of Medicine

He has 6 years of experience practicing medicine. He completed his M.B.B.S. from M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore, and his post-graduation from VIMS and RC, Bangalore. With 3 years of teaching experience, he is certified as a provider in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association. Additionally, he has received training as a trainer in the National Emergency Life Support program from DGHS, New Delhi. He holds certificate courses in Diabetes Management (CCEBDM, CCGDM) and Thyroid Disorders (CCMTD), and has two publications in indexed national journals.

Dr. Aparna S.H , M.B.B.S, DNB General Medicine

Assistant Professor

She has 11 years of experience in practicing internal medicine. She completed her MBBS from Bangalore Medical College, Bangalore, and pursued her DNB in Internal Medicine from St. Philomena Hospital, Bangalore. With 9 years of post-PG work experience, she has served in Internal Medicine at ESIC, PGIMSR Rajajinagar, and ESIC Hospital Peenya, Bangalore. She has also completed a fellowship in Diabetology and has five publications in indexed journals to her credit.
