Department of General Medicine

INTRODUCTION:

The Department of General Medicine is complimentary to all specialties in providing medical care to the trauma and other patients. The medical conditions of patients like Diabetes and other endocrine disorders, Hypertension, Asthma, Epilepsy, Infectious diseases and monitoring of patients in ICU are taken care of. The physician is available on call for all emergencies which need medical attention. Pre-operative evaluation and fitness for surgery are ensured by the department.

FACULTY / TEACHING STAFF

	Dr. Asha R, MD( Internal Medicine) Associate Professor, She has an experience of 18 years practicing medicine. She has completed her MBBS from BMCRI, Bangalore and post graduation from KIMS, Bangalore. She also has 2 years of work experience in a tertiary cardiac centre( SJIC). She has a fellowship in Diabetes from the reputed John's Hopkins University, USA. She has a special interest in management of Diabetes and it's complications. She has 2 publications in indexed national journals and 2 publications in international indexed journal. She is a state - level swimmer, Bharatanatyam dancer and has given programs in India and abroad.

	Dr. D.G. VARUN M.B.B.S, M.D (Internal Medicine) Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine He has 6 years of experience practicing medicine. He has completed his M.B.B.S from M.S Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore and post graduation from VIMS and RC, Bangalore. He has 3 years of teaching experience. He is trained to be a provider in BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association. He has also undergone training as a trainer in National Emergency Life Support programme from the DGHS, New Delhi. He has done certificate courses in Diabetes management (CCEBDM, CCGDM) and Thyroid disorders (CCMTD). He has 2 publications in Indexed National journals to his credit.

	Dr. Aparna S.H , M.B.B.S, DNB General Medicine Assistant Professor, She has an experience of 11 years of practicing internal medicine. She completed her MBBS from Bangalore medical college Bangalore and persuaded her DNB in internal medicine from St. Philomena hospital Bangalore. She has 9 years of post PG work experience in internal medicine in ESIC, PGIMSR Rajajinagar and ESIC hospital Peenya Bangalore. She has done a fellowship course in Diabetology. She has 5 publications in indexed journels for her credit.
