INTRODUCTION:

Department of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery focuses on restoring form and function following trauma and other orthopedic conditions such as tumors or congenital deformities. The department of plastic surgery has 25 beds including male , female and pediatric ward beds . We perform an average of 30 to 35 surgeries per month ,mostly traumatic in nature. We have two fixed regular OT days in a week in addition to emergency OT whenever required . We a separate septic OT for infected cases. There two OPD days in a week where operated cases are followed and dressings done .

Ortho-Plastic surgery has emerged has a pathway for better care . Plastic surgeon is involved in variety of surgeries for various combined bone and soft tissue problems .These include


● Skin and soft tissue cover of wounds

● Complications of trauma and fractures
● Limb salvage surgery, microsurgery and flap reconstruction of the extremities.

● Complex hand and wrist surgeries
● Chronic wound problems and osteomyelitis

● Skin and bone grafts

● Peripheral nerve injuries and Brachial plexus injuries
● Congenital limb anomalies

    4. Erecticle Dysfunction-All aspect of restoration of erectile function: Medical and Surgical (Prosthetics).
    5. Complex hand and wrist surgeries.
    6. Chronic wound problems and osteomyelitis.
    7. Skin and bone grafts.
    8. Peripheral nerve injuries and Brachial plexus injuries.
    9. Congenital limb anomalies.

plastic surgeon in the department has completed his MCh Plastic surgery super specialisation from NHL Medical college , Ahmedabad, Gujarat and has been working in Victoria Hospital, Bangalore Medical College and Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopedics since then. He has done his post graduation in MS General surgery from Bangalore Medical College and under graduation from Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences , Hubli.


He has special interest in academics and teaching . He has National and International journal publications and Paper presentations at national conferences. He is active participant in all the plastic surgery workshops and conferences and keen in updating his knowledge of plastic surgery skills. . He has special interest in Trauma and limb reconstructive surgeries and Hand surgeries .
