Present :
With emphasis on affordable comprehensive trauma care, SGITO has become an unique “ONE STOP” total trauma care centre in Karnataka.
The Institute also has all subspecialities of orthopaedic services. Presence of orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, General Surgery,
Plastic Surgery, Urology, Facio-Maxillary Surgery, Vascular Surgery, General Medicine, Anaesthesia. Thoracic Surgery, Physiotherapy,
Radiology, Artificial Limb Centre, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Rehabilitation centre under one roof in a Government
set up has made it a dedicated comprehensive trauma care centre in India. The institute is situated in the vicinity of NIMHANS,
Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases and SDS Sanatorium and Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology.
It has 24 hour laboratory, Pharmacy, Blood Bank, Large Ambulance brigade, dedicated emergency wing with observation ward, outpatient centre, Minor O.T, dedicated trauma I.C.U., clean spacious wards of all kinds (General, Semi Special, Special ward) state of the Art operation theatres and dynamic staff which make it a complete trauma care centre.
The ICU, Wards, Casualty wing, Blood Bank, and OTs, are fully equipped. The addition of Siemens Somatom Emotion CT Scanner, Sonoline G50 Digital whole body colour Doppler system, Operating Microscope, Arthroscopic and Endoscopic surgery equipments, Ventillators, Monitors, Defibrillators have transformed the trauma care. The Institute being an academic centre has post graduate course in orthopaedics and its own nursing college and runs nursing course and few paramedical courses.
The Administration in a meeting held on 1st July 2014 decided to establish 'State Spinal Injury Centre' & 'Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Unit' at the Institute during the current year by earmarking seperate funds for them.
The future plan includes to increase the number of beds with addition of subspeciality OTs in orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery, Trauma care Tele-Medicine etc.
The ultimate dream plan of the Institute is to convert the present structure into a 7 storeyed superspeciality trauma and orthopaedic care centre with facilities for Heli-Ambulance.
